Local Fibers Featured at The Gentle Arts in Honesdale, PA
Who could resist "Bunny Clouds?"
While it's wonderful to learn that The Gentle Arts, a specialty shop featuring high quality products of the fiber arts, has relocated to a larger storefront in Honesdale, PA, it's even better to hear that a section of the store has been devoted to carrying the products of local farms.
Owners Jan and Bill Bellhorn are pleased to see the business expand and proud to be supporting local producers of fiber-related items. The special section features Pennsylvania fiber products such as angora "bunny clouds" from Skirted Fleece Farm in Damascus, alpaca yarns from Red Maple Farm in Waymart, alpaca with bamboo blends from Nature's Reserve Alpacas in Callicoon, NY, handspun yarn from Upper Woods Jacob sheep and wool roving from Kraemer Textiles in Nazareth, PA.
Jan recently introduced her own line of handspun fibers, "Woolen Paupack," which casts a clever wink at neighboring Lake Wallenpaupack. High quality yarns, needles, buttons and other knitting-related notions are available at the store, along with specialty items like knitting bowls and Jan's pressed flower creations.
Find The Gentle Arts at 1043 Main Street, where workshops are regularly scheduled as well. Upcoming are "Snowflake Legwarmers" for the intermediate knitter on December 3rd, "Cable and Bobble 2-Needle Mittens for the intermediate knitter on December 4 and 11, "One Hour Scarf' for the beginning knitter on December 17 and more.
